The extraordinary setting of the imposing Libres spaces at Superstudio Central Point hosted the announcement of the winners of the Archiproducts Design Awards 2023. The iconic location is the birthplace of Zona Tortona - the symbol of Milan Design Week - a cultural bulwark where design, art, and fashion meet.

Welcoming the 1,300 guests to the evening was Enzo Maiorano, Co-founder and Creative Director of Archiproducts:

"Since we started our journey, 23 Years ago, we have witnessed remarkable innovations and breakthroughs in the global Community of Architecture and Design, working closely with more than 5,000 brands on our platform.

We observe this constant evolution from a privileged point of view. That's why recognizing and rewarding those who stand out in this incredible world has become our main mission. And many from this community are here tonight, coming from all over the world, and that is pure energy for us! So, thank you each and everyone for being here and sharing your passion and talent!"

Rodolfo Dordoni, who passed away last August, was remembered with a heartfelt tribute. The memorial to one of the most valued interpreters of Made in Italy design was entrusted to his own words, which fully express the idea of design that inspires the ADAs. Not only in pure aesthetics but, above all, the art of transformation: "Only time has the power to change my perception or approach to beauty or a project. Only with time will we be able to understand the evolution or change that is required to answer today’s new demands."

Speaking on behalf of the ADA 2023 jury, Gabriele Chiave, VP of Creative Direction - Design & Innovation for the Este? e Lauder Group shared his thoughts on the role of design:

“I always like to remind myself that we design with people for people. Our creations should strive to make a positive impact on people's lives and contribute to a better world, placing social and sustainable responsibility at the forefront. My wish for the design world today is to take a step back from the fast pace of our lives. Design requires the right amount of time for thoughtful consideration and execution. When a project is given the proper time for maturation, it results in a superior product in terms of design and durability. This approach also contributes to sustainability by creating products that can be cherished and passed down through generations. Let's strive for a “less AND more" culture - less products, and more quality, creating products that are meaningful, resilient, profitable, and built to last."

The Sustainability Award - brand new this year - was unveiled to the public for the first time. Inspired by the ADA logo, the unprecedented trophy was designed by AMDL CIRCLE studio, headed by Michele De Lucchi, and manufactured by Riva 1920 in fragrant cedar of Lebanon. During the evening, the awards were presented to the brands that best apply circular economy and sustainable design principles to their work.

For the first time, the Archiproducts Design Awards named a Designer of the Year. The new title was conferred upon Arianna Lelli Mami and Chiara Di Pinto, the two faces of Studiopepe, winners of the 2023 edition of the ADA with no less than seven products. Invited to the stage, Chiara Di Pinto stated:

“I’m truly honoured and grateful to receive this award! This recognition goes beyond me; it’s a celebration of the incredible synergy within our team and all our clients. And, of course, I want to share this honour with my partner in Crime, Arianna, who is not here tonight. In the realm of interior design and product design, we aim to create spaces and objects – we try to craft experiences and shape memories. Design is our bread and butter, it’s part of our daily life. And even if design won’t change the world, the fit will surely make our lives better.”

Displayed in the former Superstudio industrial space, a selection of the winning products created a truly collective and participatory installation. Students from the Nuova Accademia di Bella Arti di Milano (NABA) guided guests through the products displayed like works of art, sharing their stories and backgrounds.

The brand winners received the icon/trophy designed by the Spanish duo MUT Design and produced by De Castelli for this edition in the DeDarie? finish.

The designers of the winning products received a trophy by Salvatori, designed by Michael Anastassiades: a marble monolith which, for this edition, was made in Grigio Versilia.

The Archiproducts Design Awards 2023 jurors received special recognition for their important contribution to the complex evaluation of the submissions. A mini-architecture, the "Jury Seal", is a precious miniature stainless steel archetypical house, designed and produced in collaboration with Ceadesign in the unusual Black Ivory finish, exclusively for this edition.
